Clément Duckert has been awarded the 2017 prize of the Swiss Systematics Society (SSS) for the best master thesis. The title of Clément’s thesis is: “Morphological and molecular taxonomy of Euglypha – Towards a calibration of the molecular clock”.
In his thesis Clément used light and electron microscopy and DNA barcoding of testate amoebae to clarify the hitherto rather messy taxonomy of genus Euglypha. This work paves the way to future studies on this highly diverse group of terrestrial and aquatic amoebae.
The jury liked his work for “its clarity and the nice treatment of this systematic case on amoebae”.
Clément also was awarded the prize Louis Paris 2016 for best thesis in botany or microbiology.
